Shanghai Jiaotong University : ウィキペディア英語版
Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a public research university located in Shanghai, China. Established in 1896 by an imperial edict issued by the Guangxu Emperor, the university is renowned as one of the oldest and most prestigious and selective universities in China.
The university also annually produces the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
==Name==
The word ''jiaotong'' (交通) means "communications". The university was controlled by the state telegraph and communications agency during its early period. Today, the university does not translate "jiao tong" in its English name, as it is a comprehensive university that provides instruction and research in many fields, including those unrelated to communications.
